CHRIS Chester is hoping to persuade Richie Myler he can fulfil his desire to win trophies by moving to Hull KR.
Despite bringing in half-backs Albert Kelly and Maurice Blair from Gold Coast Titans on Friday, Myler has emerged as a surprise target for the Robins.
And even though he has a season left to run on the four-year contract he signed at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, Rovers are hopeful they can talk Myler into moving to east Hull.
The 24-year-old endured something of a stop-start campaign, playing 15 games in a year where he was in and out of the side and underwent surgery on his ankle.
Two of his six tries in Super League this season came for the Wolves in their 25-12 home defeat by Rovers.
Although he was a regular in their failed play-off series, coach Tony Smith has indicated Myler may be made available.
That has alerted Chester, who is now hoping to be given permission to hold face-to-face talks with the former Salford play-maker in the next few days.
It looks unlikely that Myler would be willing to commit to a long-term deal as his wife, TV presenter Helen Skelton, currently needs to be based near Manchester.
But Rovers are exploring the possibility of taking him on a season-long switch and would be willing to pay a nominal loan fee to do so.
The deal would be similar to the one which has secured Kevin Larroyer from Catalans Dragons for next year, even though the Frenchman had just one year left on his contract.
One of the more creative players in Super League, Myler is an elusive runner who can unlock opposition defences with his kicking game. But he does not shy away from his defensive work and is also capable of taking the line on.
