HULL RUFC let victory slip from their grasp when going down 26-11 at Huddersfield.
Martin Webdale's side failed to take their chances, but their errors gave the home side a couple of scores they would not otherwise have achieved.
Hull started well and it came as no surprise when their pressure resulted in a penalty after just 16 minutes.
Greg Lound narrowly missed the chance and then saw another effort hit the post after 20 minutes.
After 25 minutes, Huddersfield made the most of a penalty into the right hand corner of Hull's 22-metre area.
They were kept at bay for three minutes by Hull's defence, but in the end Hodson skipped through a gap to score, leaving Hinchcliffe to slot over an easy conversion.

As half-time approached, Lound kicked a penalty to see his side in arrears 7-3 at the break.
The second half saw Hull score first after great work by Sullivan opened up the defence after a 50-yard break.
The ball found its way to Kirk, who raced in from 20 yards out after just six minutes.
Lound's conversion rebounded back into play off an upright.
A poor kick out of defence was seized upon by the home side who established good field position in Hull's 22, and Hinchcliffe scampered over for a try, which he converted to give Huddersfield the lead after 51 minutes.
Six minutes later, Richard Brown made a break deep into Hull territory, allowing Thompson to blast over from close range for an unconverted try.
The visitors dug deep and after 65 minutes seemed certain to score from a good catch and drive, but a penalty award against Hull saw the opportunity go begging.
A Lound penalty did give Hull some hope, but Huddersfield had the last word when a sublime reverse pass by Hinchcliffe saw Sharpe plunge over for Hinchcliffe to convert.
