A POPULAR independent music store in Hull have been fined more then £1,200 for fly-tipping. Bad Dog Music Ltd, formerly of Savile Street in the city centre, was prosecuted for dumping waste in and around domestic bins. Representatives for the company admitted to the offence during an interview with Hull City Council's neighbourhood nuisance team. But they failed to attend court on two occasions. The case was instead heard by Hull Magistrates last month in their absence. The store was found guilty of an offence under the Environmental Protection Act. Councillor John Hewitt, portfolio holder for neighbourhoods and communities, said: "Hull City Council's neighbourhood nuisance team has prosecuted a number of Hull businesses who have failed to explain how they dispose of their commercially produced waste. "It is disappointing to see that, despite this positive action, a further business has done the same thing. "Hull City Council offers a competitive trade waste and recycling collection service for businesses so there is really no excuse for this." The owners were fined £200, ordered to pay £1,028.64 in court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
