Was Adam Pearson right to say 2015 will be Hull FC's time?

Craig Murdock says Hull FC owner Adam Pearson has heaped unnecessary pressure on Lee Radford's team, but given the right breaks, they can live up to expectations.

I ADMIRE Adam Pearson for coming out and saying next season is Hull FC's season to succeed.

It's good he believes in his team so much, but it adds pressure that I don't think is needed.

I hope Adam is right and FC find themselves at the right end of the table pushing for success, but it's difficult to make statements like that before pre-season starts.

It's not something I'd do, but I'm not a successful businessman like Adam is.

It won't add too much pressure on coach Lee Radford because he will have put plenty of pressure on himself to do well in his second season in charge.

Whether he is coaching East Hull or Hull FC, Lee wants to win and will do everything he can to make sure his team do so.

Lee understands the nature of the beast and that it's a results-driven industry.

He knows very well that the axe will sharpen and eventually fall on him if Hull fail to get the results he and Adam demand.

It won't be easy going from 11th in Super League to winning a trophy the following season.

I don't think they will win the Grand Final because they are still a team coming together.

But with a bit of luck and a fair wind, they could do well. They got to the Challenge Cup final last year so there's no reason why they can't repeat that next season. But the luck of the draw has a part to play. Squad depth will also be important if they are to be successful, but they're getting there.

They are developing their own players and signing good quality ones too. If they can keep their key players fit, and the spine of the team gel well, they should be in contention.
