A DRINK-driver who caused a man to have a heart attack after ploughing her car into a pub during a funeral wake has avoided jail.
Kerry Wileman, 26, sobbed as she walked away from Hull Magistrates' Court with a 12-week suspended prison sentence for smashing her car into the Holderness pub in Witham.
Barry King, 48, suffered a cardiac arrest and was resuscitated at the scene of the crash, which happened during the wake of his partner's grandfather Harry Parks.
Another guest was flung from their seat by the force of the car hitting the wall.
Landlord Dave Stark, who is still living in a caravan because of the damage caused in the crash on August 7, branded the sentence a "joke".
He said: "It stinks. She nearly killed someone.
"She didn't just wreck a pub but she wrecked a business and yet she has only apologised to the judge, not to me or the people she has hurt.
"She deserved jail for it – where is the justice?"
Unemployed Wileman, of 26th Avenue, north Hull, was almost twice the legal drink-drive limit after boozing with her friend, who was a passenger in the Vauxhall Tigra.
Prosecutor Andrew Sterling said Wileman had swerved to miss a pedestrian and instead ploughed through the outside wall of the pub.
Mr King's partner, Diane Green, and pub regular Pete Brown had to perform CPR until paramedics arrived to take him to Hull Royal Infirmary.
Mrs Green was thrown forward and suffered concussion, whiplash and traumatic shock.
The court heard she is still having flashbacks.
Mr Brown suffered minor injuries to his legs.
Wileman was restrained at the scene by two doormen until the police took over, when she became aggressive and kicked PC Robinson in the genitals.
She suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital but was discharged a few hours later and taken to the police station, where she was breathalysed.
Tests revealed she had 65mg in 100mls of breath. The legal limit is 35mg.
The pub, which suffered £20,000 of damage, has remained closed ever since but Mr Stark hopes it will reopen next month.
He said: "She has basically got away with it.
"She will be laughing her socks off.
"She will probably be out drinking tonight.
"I am not angry, I am just disappointed in the law. It just isn't enough."
Deputy District Judge Sam Goozee suspended the sentence for a year and banned her from driving for two years.
He said: "I struggle to believe you have no recollection at all.
"It may be the full horror of what you had done left you in such a state of shock that you probably couldn't comprehend what you had just done and you probably blanked it out.
"You had absolutely no control over that vehicle and the consequences of your actions are so far reaching, not only in terms of the damage caused to the pub, but the injuries suffered.
"This could have been very, very tragic."
Judge Goozee also ordered Wileman to complete 150 hours of unpaid work.
