Steve Bruce has reportedly set his sights on former Scotland under-21 captain Stuart Armstrong to complement early-season sensation Andy Robertson. According to the Daily Record, with plans already in place for the January transfer window, Bruce sent chief scout Stan Ternent to Kilmarnock's Rugby Park to watch the 22-year-old in action. Scorer of eleven goals in all competitions last season, the form led to giants Celtic being linked with the Inverness-born midfielder in December 2013. Burnley, Huddersfield Town and Birmingham City are thought to be in the queue to talk to Armstrong, who clinched the Scottish Football Writers' Association Young Player of the Year in the 2012-13 campaign, this upcoming January. He has 18 months left on his current deal, and is continuing his recovery from an ankle problem, causing him to last 64 minutes of the 2-0 defeat to Kilmarnock last week.Townsend visits KC for foot injury treatmentConor Townsend is on the road to recovery at Dundee after suffering a foot injury. The full-back went in the opposite direction from the Tigers, joining United on a season-long loan, as part of the Andy Robertson deal. Townsend, 21, has been troubled with the foot problem for the past month and has been back at the KC Stadium to receive treatment during the international break. Thankfully, the defender has been making progress and last week saw him resume running. "Hull wanted him down there for treatment and the news is he's coming on," boss Jackie McNamara told the Evening Telegraph. "We'll now see about getting him back up and we can take things from there, but it's good he's making progress."Norwich 'should've signed Robertson when they had the chance Meanwhile on Robertson, Norwich's Russell Martin has spoken out about when he asked his club to go and snap up the now-Tigers star. Speaking to Scottish media ahead of Saturday's Euro qualifier with Georgia, Martin realised the left-back's potential to succeed in the English game, but was left to rue Steve Bruce getting in there first. "Andy has done great. I told our assistant manager at Norwich last year that he should sign him after seeing him in one session up here," Martin told STV. "He looked a fantastic player and has adapted brilliantly to the Premier League after signing for Hull. He is playing with international players who have been in the Premier League for a long time and that will only help to bring him on. "He is going to be a big player for Scotland in future years and possibly now. He loves to get down that flank and has got a great delivery. That is a strength of his."Chester hails Williams in Wales set-upJames Chester has hailed Ashley Williams for helping him acclimatise to international football with Wales. The Tigers defender made his Welsh debut against Holland at the end of last season and played alongside Williams in an opening Group B win over Andorra last month. "Ash has played in the Premier League for a few years now. He's someone I enjoy watching and someone I can learn from as well," Chester told the South Wales Evening Post. "Like anything, the more time you spend together the better you're going to get. "Ash is captain at his club and at international level for a reason. It's because he speaks well and talks a lot." The pair again look set to anchor the Welsh defence when Bosnia-Herzegovina and Cyprus visit the Cardiff City Stadium over the next five days.Bellerin wants to repay Arsenal faith against Tigers AND finally, Arsenal's Hector Bellerin wants to repay the trust shown in him by Arsene Wenger by capitalising on his Gunners debut. The 19-year-old right-back, signed in 2011 from Barcelona, is currently in his first season with the first-team after spending a stint on-loan at Watford. Whilst opportunities have been limited to two appearances, Bellerin is delighted that he's getting his chances to impress, and is looking to take advantage of any playing time that comes his way, especially when they host the Tigers on Saturday week. "I'm delighted because I'm getting my chances," Bellerin told premierLeague.com. "I've been training with the first team since the beginning of the season so obviously the only thing I can say is thanks to the players and the coaches. "They are giving me the chance and have faith in me so that's what I'm going to give back. I'm looking forward to playing more games and I'm really happy with the way this season has gone so far."
