In the first six months of this year, 736 residents in the city sought debt advice from the charity's helpline compared with 518 in the same period last year, an increase of 42 per cent.
After accounting for basic living costs such as housing payments, energy bills and council tax, the average person in Hull seeking the charity's help had just £15 left at the end of each month.
In the first six months of this year, the people of Hull who contacted the charity owed an average of £10,540 in unsecured debt, including credit cards, personal loans and overdrafts.
