TWO men have appeared in court in connection with sham marriages being held in the city.
Abiola Kumoye and Jayeola Abiola both appeared at Hull Crown Court for a preliminary hearing.
Both men face charges in connection with sham marriages taking place in the city.
The pair appeared via a video link from Hull Prison and sat next to each other during the short hearing.
They spoke only to confirm their names.
Prosecutor Mark Kendall told the court: "They have both been sent to this court from Hull Magistrates' Court for allegedly conspiring to breach UK immigration law.
"A third defendant is likely to be charged."
A plea and case management hearing is expected to take place in April where pleas will be entered to the charges they face.
Mr Kumoye, 34, of Manchester, is charged with organising a false marriage for financial purposes and concealing and disguising criminal property.
Mr Abiola, 26, of Grafton Street, west Hull, is charged with conspiring to breach immigration law.
A trial is expected to take place later this year but a date has not yet been set.
The men have been remanded in custody and their custody time limits expire in July.
The honorary Recorder of Hull and the East Riding Judge Michael Mettyear told the defendants: "For the moment, the next hearing will be in April when I hope I will make further progress in this case.
"In the meantime, you are both remanded in custody."
