Drivers are being warned to take extra care on East Yorkshire's roads this morning as temperatures drop as low as minus 10.

Minor roads are being affected by compacted snow and ice with freezing fog reported in parts of the East Riding.

Overnight temperatures have fallen to minus 10 in Hornsea, Withernsea, Patrington and areas around Leconfield, causing an additional headache of black ice as people prepare to head off to work.

Road clearing crews from East Riding Council have been out three times in the past 12 hours as they battle to keep main routes free of ice.

Bridlington School say they'll be open at 8.30am, with no other schools closed at this stage.

Bus firm EYMS are providing updates on Twitter - @EYBuses - and say there are no problems so far this morning.
