An 18-year-old man has been arrested following a robbery in Kirk Ella in which a woman was attacked in her own home.Police launched a manhunt after a masked intruder attacked a 27-year-old woman and took her handbag, which contained a "large quantity" of cash, at 4.30pm on Wednesday afternoon.
It is thought the robber was waiting inside the woman's semi-detached home in West Ella Road, Kirk Ella.
Following the arrest of an 18-year-old man in the early hours of this morning, officers are continuing door-to-door inquiries and have launched a fresh appeal for information.
They particularly want to speak to women who were quoted in the Mail describing seeing a man through trees, sitting on a wall.
A force spokesman said: "Police are still appealing for witnesses, specifically people who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area before or after the incident.
"In one media outlet there are women quoted who claim to have seen a man acting suspiciously and police would like to speak to these people."
