Just five days after marking his City debut with a goal against former club West Ham United, Diame continued a perfect introduction to his new club with a spectacular strike in the 2-2 draw with Newcastle United on Saturday.
The Senegalese midfielder's long-range strike was not enough to earn the Tigers victory as international team-mate Papiss Cisse struck a late brace to rescue a point for the Magpies, but Diame has paid tribute to Bruce for quickly restoring his confidence.
"I like Hull as a club. I can see myself doing well here," he said. "I am happy here and I want to do really well.
"The manager is good for me. He gives me confidence and I want to pay that back. I like playing for people who believe in you.
"I have been happy with my performance. I have the confidence of the gaffer and am trying to give him everything back.
"Football is all about confidence and when you have people who believe in you then you play well."
Diame's impact has come at the tip of a midfield diamond for the Tigers, an advanced role that has already provided rich returns.
As well as playing a part in Nikica Jelavic's beautiful opening goal when winning possession in the build-up, a left-foot strike from 20 yards out was another unstoppable finish.
"I am in a different position to West Ham," he added. "I was a winger there. I am now back in midfield where I have played all my life.
"West Ham is a great club and the fans were always behind me. I was happy there. But I am not a winger. I have goal targets, too, and playing as a winger meant I couldn't meet that target. I am just trying to do my best and get around the pitch."
Just as Diame's debut ended with frustration as West Ham twice fought back last Monday, the same feeling of disappointment was felt at St James' Park on Saturday.
An impressive performance from the Tigers had earned them a 2-0 lead inside the final quarter of the game, only for errors to be punished through the clinical Cisse.
A third draw of the season leaves City well positioned in 10th on six points and Diame believes there will be more to come from a side that included five summer signings at the weekend.
"Patience will be needed," said the midfielder, who is likely to be rested for the Capital One Cup tie at West Brom on Wednesday. "We have quality, anyone can see that, but we have to play better together.
"I have been here six years and the Premier League is tough. But we have good quality here and can do well. After winning 2-0, we should have won the game. It is disappointing. It is good to score but I wanted to win. I try to give me best but we dropped two points.
"There are goals in this team. Jelavic's goal was a good one. It shows what we can do as a team. We need to do the same against Manchester City this weekend."
