The pub's co-owner Hazel Boynton, who runs the Main Street venue with Beverley Payne, said: "We have been doing the competition for three years and it has grown in popularity.
"The first year we had 12 entrants and this year we had 43. Many others also came in to see who had won.
"The idea was thought up by a group of regular customers. It's great fun and a good topic of conversation from March when the seeds are distributed.
"Everyone seems to love the community spirit and the competitiveness."
Villagers Simon and Sue Malton wore special carrot T-shirts for the event, while size didn't matter to some of the contestants, including Jean Whiteside, whose carrot was measured at just 6cm by judge Bob Tyas.
The event raised £68 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society through the sale of carrot seeds.
