Luke Campbell did something a whole host of British boxers have failed to do in stopping Krzysztof Szot.
An overhand left in the seventh round set up a stoppage as Campbell recorded the eighth win of his professional career.
The 36-year-old from Poznan in Poland was expected to give Campbell the first genuine test of his career having taken the likes of Scott Cardle, Chad Gaynor and Tyrone Nurse the distance.
Normally a light-welterweight, Szot proved his durability after weathering a barrage of early punches from Campbell.
While the Polish fighter continued to come forward, as the fight progressed it became more about lasting the distance for Szot as Campbell began to assert his authority.
The decisive moment came in the penultimate round when a big left from Campbell sent Szot crashing onto the ropes and having taken a knee to regain his composure, he stood to find a relentless Campbell, who finished him off.
Campbell's victory at Wembley Arena, is the eighth of his professional career.
The Olympic champion will now return to action in Hull on October 25 when he takes on Argentina's Daniel Brizuela for the WBA Inter-Continental lightweight championship.
