Plans are in place to extend one of the city's biggest nature reserves.

Councillors in Bransholme have approached Yorkshire Wildlife Trust over creating a link between North Bransholme and Noddle Hill Nature Reserve.

If given the go ahead, residents north of the estate wanting to use the popular facility will no longer have to take the long walk they currently do.

It is also hoped the picturesque walkway will reduce the level of traffic moving from North Bransholme into Bransholme East.

Councillors want the path to include a water crossing.

Councillor Anita Harrison said: "Noddle Hill Nature Reserve is one of the most beautiful areas of Hull and the easier we make it for people to get there, the better.

"It is a real hidden gem. People go there to fish, to cycle, to keep fit and to just enjoy the wildlife.

"Hopefully we can extend it out in the form of this pathway. I certainly think it will be well used."

The Mail reported two years ago how hundreds of people celebrated the official opening of the reserve – the first of its kind in Hull.
