City council leaders have offered their sympathies to the family of East Yorkshire-born aid worker David Haines, who was murdered by Islamic State terrorists after being held hostage in Syria.
At a full council meeting, city council leader Steve Brady said Mr Haines had lost his life trying to help other people living in misery.
