HULL: A campaign has been launched aimed at giving city residents more information about how their council tax is spent.
It coincides with new moves to start charging people who have previously been exempt from paying any council tax.
As the Mail reported, about 24,800 households in Hull will start paying council tax for the first time in April.
Most will be paying £1.50 a week.
Deputy leader Councillor Daren Hale said the campaign will help residents understand how money is spent on council services.
"We want clarity for residents to know how their council tax money is spent and where other sources of funding for the city come from.
"We also want residents to know why it matters and find the information about what we do interesting and to learn some facts they maybe didn't know.
"The campaign also aims to provide residents with information about the council's changing finances and about the hard decisions we have to make given the reduction in Government funding."
The council says the campaign is costing £2,788.
