NEW Beverley pies look set to go down a treat at the town's annual real ale festival.
Ale-inspired Beverley pies will be launched at next month's Beverley Real Ale Festival, which runs from Friday to Sunday, October 3 to 5.
Organisers are keen to develop a more "foodie" feel after linking up with Beverley Food Festival.
They are now hoping the combination of real ale and pies will produce a sell-out festival at the town's Memorial Hall.
James Harper, organiser of the third annual ale festival, said: "Having a pint of ale in one hand and a pie in the other is a match made in heaven.
"Since joining forces with Beverley Food Festival we have been keen to develop a more foodie feel to the celebrations.
"We're hoping we have done just that with the special Beverley Real Ale Festival Pies.
"The creation of the pies comes from a collaboration between two Yorkshire favourites – Andrew Jones Pies and Great Newsome Brewery.
"They have come together to create two stunning pies that are guaranteed to be a hit with beer and cider lovers attending the festival."
Matthew Hodgson, of Holderness-based Great Newsome Brewery, said: "What could be a more 'pie-fect' match – beer and pies?
"We are extremely excited and looking forward to sampling the pies, made with our award-winning Frothingham Best and Sleck Dust by a pie-maker with such a reputation for quality as Andrew Jones Pies."
The Huddersfield pie company is also this year's main festival sponsor and is no stranger to creating unique and interesting pies.
Earlier this year, the company won best in class at the British Pie Awards for its Jerk Pork Pie.
Beverley-based Jacqui Etherington, of Andrew Jones Pies Ltd, said: "We are delighted to be launching two new pies for the Beverley Real Ale Festival.
"Both pies are delicious and the perfect match for beer drinking."
This year's festival will include a wider range of cask ales from across Yorkshire and a special assortment from the south-west.
More ciders will also be on offer this year and, for the first time, the festival will have a craft keg and lager selection from the likes of Daleside brewery, Brass Castle and Wold Top.
Festival organisers are again expecting another sell-out for both the Friday and Saturday evening sessions.
