A "VIOLENT drunk" who ruined a birthday party when female guests rejected his advances has been spared jail.

Keith Holiday, 45, attacked the women who spurned him, punching one so hard her teeth came through her face.

It was his second conviction for violence against women.

But he was spared an immediate jail sentence and given a £750 fine because a judge said he was addressing his drink problem and was therefore unlikely to reoffend.

Hull Crown Court heard Holiday "destroyed" Denise Letch's 60th birthday party at the Ryder Club in Coltman Street, west Hull, on Friday, November 22 last year.

He attacked Ms Letch's daughter Sarah and several others when he flew into a rage because they turned down his advances.

Reading Denise Letch's victim impact statement, Recorder Andrew Kershaw said she was "unable to get this incident out of her mind".

He said: "She sees her daughter covered in blood, blood running down her legs to her shoes.

"It's given her nightmares, she wakes up crying, she relives the experience."

A room had been booked for the private party, with the rest of the club remaining open to members.

Prosecutor Stephen Robinson said Holiday, of Reading, who was not attending the party, became a "nuisance", going in and out of the private room.

He was drunk and "bothering" some of the female guests, being "overly-friendly and suggestive".

He tried to give Ms Letch a kiss and pulled her up, insisting she dance, before repeatedly touching her daughter, Sarah Letch, on the arm while she was outside smoking with her partner, Jesus Garido-Castro.

He was also sexually suggestive to another guest, Theresa Parry.

As some of the guests began to leave, Holiday became angry and hurled abuse at Ms Parry and another guest, Sarah Singleton.

Kirsty Wilcox, Denise Letch's daughter-in-law, told him to leave them alone before Sarah Letch also told him to back off.

He responded by spitting in her face. She spat back and Holiday became violent.

Denise Letch shouted for police but Holiday punched her in the head, knocking her to the ground. In the ensuing melee, which was captured on CCTV, Holiday struck and injured several guests.

Sarah Singleton's lower front teeth punctured her skin when she was punched, leaving a scar.

Holiday pushed his fingers into Ms Parry's eye socket, causing "awful" pain, an eye infection, and physical and mental scars.

Mr Garido-Castro needed stitches for a cut lip.

Holiday admitted affray and received an 18-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.

He was also made subject to a 12-month supervision order, with a six-month alcohol treatment requirement.

The judge told him: "At first, when in drink, you were over-amorous, offensively so.

"You were rejected and in your bad temper you committed your offence of affray, which involved multiple victims.

"It ought to be apparent to you by now that when you drink you don't just turn into an over-amorous guest, but also that the other side of your character, the violent side, becomes uninhibited."
