Hull City is up for sale. Or maybe it isn't, if owner Assem Allam is able to get the name changed to incorporate the word Tigers.
Arbitration is the next step in a long-running saga that could do with a satisfactory outcome – and soon.
That outcome needs to be one that keeps the club strong and thriving.
All sides need to talk to each other, including those fans who would consider change, those who'd rather not AND Hull City Council, to try to sort out the thorny issues surrounding ownership and development of the ground.
That will be easier said than done.
Dr Assem Allam is a man of deep principles who refuses to take a step back when feeling he has been wronged, whether that be with the city council, fans who object to a name change or the Football Association, which dismisses his idea to become Hull Tigers.
On the other hand, his position has upset those fans who passionately believe in the traditions of the club and are uncomfortable (putting it politely!) with a change of title.
A way needs to be found for everyone (club, fans' representatives and council) to meet and debate and (whisper it quietly) agree on their differences and begin to find a way through them. All involved in this debate loves the club. Surely, few would want to see the club sold? No sane person wants a messy "divorce".
We've got generous owners, a superb manager, brilliant fans and a great squad. We're in the Premier League and went to an FA Cup final. Look down the road at Leeds United or to Portsmouth for the dark side of continuing disruption.
So we appeal to all those involved. Is it not worth one more try to resolve all the well-documented issues? Steve Bruce needs stability off the field as well as on it to maintain success and cement the club's position as a major Premier League force.
