MANAGER Billy Heath is hoping North Ferriby United can avoid a third straight defeat when the Villagers travel to third-placed Chorley tomorrow night.

After winning four and drawing one of their first five games, Ferriby have now lost 2-1 to Worcester City and 3-1 to Solihull Moors.

Heath said: "We were poor in the first half but we did much better in the second.

"It was frustrating because we came close to scoring on a number of occasions."

In truth, though, Solihull deserved to win a sometimes controversial game, but the Villagers could have had a share of the spoils with a little more luck.

Moors opened more brightly and keeper Adam Nicklin had to be alert to take the ball just off the in-rushing Ryan Beswick.

Ferriby striker Nathan Jarman's wretched luck continued when he saw a shot come back off the post with Solihull keeper Tony Breedon beaten.

Nicklin saved well as he came out to block Beswick, Jarman saw a goal-bound shot deflected over and Gregg Anderson went close with a header.

However, the opener fell to the visitors after 39 minutes when Hone tripped Reece Fleet and Omar Bogle sent Nicklin the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Ferriby felt they should have had a penalty when Liam King appeared to be brought down in the area but the officials deemed it was outside.

Ferriby started the second half brightly with Tom Denton and Jarman both going close.

However, a massive stroke of luck after 52 minutes saw Solihull double their lead.

The ball ricocheted off the referee into Bogle's path and he raced in to place his shot past Nicklin.

Solihull exerted pressure but it was the hosts who scored next when Dan Clayton and Denton combined to set up Russell Fry to score with a cross-shot.

Ferriby piled on the pressure but Solihull netted a third when a free-kick was partially cleared to Darryl Knights, who fired in through a crowd of players.

Hone was unlucky to see his header from a Fry free-kick bounce off the post and shortly after Breedon just punched the ball off Denton's head.

NFU: Adam Nicklin, Danny Hone, Josh Wilde, Liam King Matt Wilson, Gregg Anderson (Dan Clayton 53), Louis Bruce, Jon D'Laryea (Tom Corner 83), Tom Denton, Nathan Jarman, Russell Fry. Subs not used: Antoni Pecora, Mark Gray, Nathan Peat.
