TWO cannabis factories, collectively housing around 550 plants, have been closed down, thanks to a tip-off. Humberside Police say they were called at 3.51pm on Tuesday by a member of the public reporting the smell of cannabis at a home in Blaydes Street, north Hull. Officers visited the address and seized 300 cannabis plants. Following further enquiries, officers discovered a second cannabis factory in a home in in Hardy Street, west Hull. Around 250 cannabis plants were recovered at this address. A force spokesman said: "Both properties had been badly damaged with mains electricity being tampered with. "Humberside Police are urging members of the public to assist them in tackling cannabis cultivation by reporting any information no matter how small, as a smell of cannabis can lead to the discovery of a cannabis factory like in this case." Two people have been arrested in connection with the discoveries. Enquiries are ongoing, say police. The public can report any information about the supply of drugs, or any information about drugs activity, by calling 101 or alternatively Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
