THOUSANDS of camping and caravanning fans will descend on Cottingham Parks this weekend.

More than 20 East Yorkshire caravan manufacturers will be exhibiting their latest models to eager crowds at the annual Cottingham Parks Lodge and Caravan Show.

The show, which is now in its 12th year, is expected to attract more than 5,000 visitors who will be treated to live musical entertainment from roaming buskers.

The show's organiser Jane Wiles said she is excited to welcome visitors from across the region to the show, which she believes will help put Cottingham on the map.

She said: "We are looking forward to the opening of the show. We have some of the best businesses in the industry and have been really impressed with the 2015 models, and we know that visitors will be too.

"It's nice to know that the industry is performing really well now, and we know that will be reflected in the show this year."

The travelling musicians will be dotted around the showground, playing live music to raise funds for two different charities. The musicians will be in competition to raise the most money for their charity.

The one with the biggest collection at the end of the day will be crowned the winner.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Hull Families Project, which helps city families suffering hardship, and Kickstart Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Support.

Kickstart, which was founded by Cottingham Parks receptionist Jo Pierce, supports youngsters in the region who have been diagnosed with cancer.

There will also be an exhibition of four-wheel drive cars from Toyota and Riverside Volvo, hot and cold food and drinks, and entertainment for children, including a bouncy castle.

The show takes place at Cottingham Parks Golf and Leisure Club in Woodhill Way and is open to the public on Saturday and Sunday.

The show opens from 9am to 5pm and both parking and entry is free of charge.
