HE WON the hearts of people in his home city when he claimed Olympic glory.
Now, champion boxer Luke Campbell is hoping Hull will support him once more as he swaps the ring for the rink on TV show Dancing On Ice.
Luke, 25, makes his debut tomorrow night and hopes the backing of fans will see him skate his way into the next round.
Luke said he is going all-out to make his city proud again.
"This type of support is absolutely priceless," he said. "It is really overwhelming.
"I will go out there tomorrow and make them proud for sure because Hull is a fantastic city with bags of talent and hopefully I can be one of those people tomorrow."
After watching the first batch of skaters on the ice last week, the boxer joked on Twitter he would have to put more work in after the others had set the bar so high.
But speaking ahead of a final training session, Luke said: "It has been going good.
"I'm a bit anxious now, a bit nervous, but I'm really excited to show everyone what we have been practising.
"It will be interesting to see what people think about how I have come on in the couple of months I have been skating."
His dedication, focus and determination is something that set Luke apart and took him to Olympic glory in the summer.
He says his attitude on the ice will be no different.
"Being a boxer is a one-man sport, every time you go into that ring, you want to win," he said.
"In life, everything I go into, I put 100 per cent into it. I have done that on the ice. But I am having fun with it as well. I hope, if people enjoy it, they will vote for me."
He says he will be nervous ahead of his ice debut, but last year's experience has put him in good stead to cope with the pressure.
He said: "If I can go into an Olympic Games or even a boxing ring and cope with the pressure and nerves in there, it puts me in good stead for anything I want to do in life."
Luke's fans will have to tune in tomorrow to see the routine as the boxer is remaining tight-lipped about what it will entail.
He says his ice partner Jenna Harrison has been putting him through his paces to make sure he is ice-ready.
He said: "I am so thankful I have been given this opportunity not only to be on the show, but also to learn a new skill in life. Now I can say 'Yes, I can ice skate'."
He will have support from family and friends as well as big hitters from the boxing world.
But, by far his biggest support will be the people of Hull, who have taken the Olympic gold medallist to their heart.
"I have always said I love my city, and this is why," said Luke.
