Police have today revealed a suspected attempt to snatch a child in Pickering Park is no longer being treated as a crime.
The four-year-old girl was playing on swings in Pickering Park with her family on Wednesday.
When her mother turned to deal with her other child, the little girl was approached by two women and a man.
They offered to take the girl to see the birds in the park's aviary, but fled when confronted by the child's mum.
Following an appeal on this website, police said the man had now contacted police to say the two women had learning difficulties and were simply being friendly.
A force spokesman said: "Police are content there was no criminal intent following their inquiries.
"We were contacted by the man in the incident who explained that the two women involved were vulnerable adults themselves and had good intentions in assisting the girl in visiting the aviary."
