HULL City have launched an audacious £9m bid to land Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley, according to national reports this afternoon. The Express and The Times say the Tigers have bid in excess of £8m for the 25-year-old.
United are said to be happy to listen to offers for Cleverley, who has just 12 months left on his contract.
He started Sunday's 1-1 draw against Sunderland at the Stadium of light but struggled to make an impression on Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal.
It was thought that the new United boss wanted initially to keep Cleverley, but the Dutchman has told his player in recent weeks that he can leave if the right offer comes in.
Steve Bruce still has money to spend in order to strengthen his squad, but faces competition from Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert, who has convinced his owner Randy Lerner to release funds for Cleverley.
And according to one Sky Sports journalist, he says a fee has been agreed between the Red Devils and Villa.
