FOLLOWING the signing of Tottenham skipper Michael Dawson, Hull City will turn their attentions to elsewhere on the pitch – and a midfielder is on the radar in today's Transfer gossip. The Tigers are interested in hijacking Everton's bid to sign Mohamed Diame from West Ham, according to The Times. The Toffees had expected a £3.5m move to go through last week, after the Senegal international said his goodbyes to his Hammers team-mates. However, the deal hit a snag over personal terms, but Everton expect the move to be completed. Not before the Tigers come in with perhaps a late offer, though. Diame, 27, has just a year left on his contract and his club have been trying to convince him to sign an extension but the player wants to move on. QPR are the other club monitoring Diame's situation, but at the minute, it looks as though Everton remain in pole position.Cameron wanted by Lazio RUMOURED Tigers target Geoff Cameron is wanted by Lazio, according to The Sun. The arrival of Phil Bardsley from Sunderland has seen the USA World Cup star lose his place in Mark Hughes' starting line-up at Stoke. Coincidentally, the Black Cats are said to be interested in the 29-year-old coming in the opposite direction to Bardsley. This has alerted Lazio coach Stefano Pioli, who faces competition from Leicester and Southampton as well as the Tigers and the Black Cats to sign the full-back.Deeney to sign Watford contract WE all knew that the Troy Deeney link to Hull City was dead in the water – and now the forward is set to sign a new contract at his club Watford, according to Sky Sports. Speculation arose linking the 26-year-old striker to the KC Stadium following the sale of Shane Long, but City were quick to dismiss the rumour. And it looks like after a few transfer negotiations elsewhere, Deeney has settled at Watford and is ready to stay at Vicarage Road.Hernandez a firm target for Tigers HULL City are closing in on a club record deal for Uruguay international striker /Abel Hernandez. The Tigers have switched their attention to the Palermo front man after admitting defeat in their pursuit of Blackburn's Jordan Rhodes. They've spent big bucks this summer, and one player, Luke Shaw, cost in the region of £30m. But Daily Record writer David McCarthy has backed Hull City's Andy Robertson to outshine the former Southampton man – and says Scottish clubs are being done over when selling their homegrown talent. McCarthy wrote: "Did you see Andy Robertson charging down the left flank for Hull on Match of the Day over the last two weeks? "Did he look out of place in the so-called best league in the world? No, I don't think so either. "This boy has gone from playing for Queen's Park in our League Two to playing against Queens Park Rangers in the English Premiership in the space of 18 months. "That's quite a leap for a kid who can now regard himself as Scotland's first-choice left-back at the age of 20. "Dundee United, who saw something in the kid that Celtic, who released him, and Rangers, who played against him in the old Third Division, missed and were rewarded with a £2 million transfer fee that will rise to £3m. "I just hope Stephen Thompson also negotiated a sell-on clause because young Robertson will end up at a bigger club than Hull and given the inflated fees floating around down there that could be worth a pretty penny to the Tannadice club. "Which brings me to the point. If Robertson had been playing in England in the first place he'd have gone for two or three times the money United received. "English clubs are coming up and getting away with murder because they know our clubs can't afford to say no to them." Do you agree with McCarthy's points? Would Bruce be good fit at Palace? AND finally, when a vacant manager's position becomes available, it's inevitable that Steve Bruce is linked with it. Well, Crystal Palace fan and Metro writer Matt Broad says City's boss would be the perfect fit for the role – but admits the move would be a tricky one to tackle. "Malky Mackay, Tim Sherwood and Glenn Hoddle have all come and gone from the spotlight, but I will put a name out there, that I think will do a very good job at Selhurst Park. Steve Bruce," Broad wrote. "It's a tricky one, because he's laid some good foundations at Hull City, but if the former United defender fancied a fresh new challenge, and a return to the Selhurst Park dugout after 13 years, then I think he would be welcomed back, as a man that could keep Palace up. "Bruce has experienced some good times as a top flight manager, keeping teams like Wigan and Hull up, albeit on low budgets, whilst he has some good experience leading his side to a Play-Off win, just like he did with Birmingham in 2006-07 and Hull in 2012-13." Just on the record, Bruce is going nowhere.
