THE pub where an Orchard Park soldier enjoyed his final drink before he left for Afghanistan will play host to a choir made up of former servicemen.
Private Johnathon Young, 18, of Jipdane, was killed by a Taliban bomb in Helmand Province on August 20, 2009.
At 8pm on Saturday, January 26, the Pint and Pot pub on the estate will welcome The Yorkshire Warriors choir.
Organiser Paul Langthorpe said: "We are hoping as many people from Orchard Park and the surrounding area come down and show their support.
"It would be fantastic if Johnathon's family and friends could pop down too.
"We have heard it was his favourite and we are very pleased to be performing here.
"It promises to be a great night of entertainment and the lads are really looking forward to it."
The Yorkshire Warriors, who formed a year ago, have recruited the brother and sister of Private Gregg Stone, 20, who was killed in Afghanistan last June.
Kallum, 18, and Rosie-Ann, 19, are due to take part in the performance.
Paul, who served in the Prince of Wales's Own Regiment of Yorkshire and the Royal Marines, said: "Both Kallum and Rosie-Ann are really keen to get involved."
As previously reported, Kallum is about to follow in his brother's footsteps and join the Army.
Paul said: "He will just have time to perform with us at the Pint and Pot before he goes off to Infantry Training Centre, Catterick, to complete his basic training."
Gregg, of Atwick, near Hornsea, was killed rescuing an Afghan policeman kidnapped by the Taliban in the Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand province. He served in the same 3rd Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment, as Johnathon.
The choir recently released its debut album, which has already sold 900 copies.
Choir members rehearse at the Defence School of Transport in Leconfield.
Bob Stone, Gregg's dad, said: "What the choir is doing for our lads is absolutely fantastic. They are a great group.
"We are incredibly proud of Kallum for joining the Army."
Kallum is due to begin his training on February 3 and hopes to go on to join his brother's old battalion.
