Travellers have "forced" their way on to playing fields in Hessle, residents say.
Around 15 caravans moved on to King George V playing fields, off Boothferry Road, at around 8pm last night.
Ayshea Simpkin, who lives nearby in Beverley Road, said: "We have never known travellers to move on to these playing fields before.
"It is how they come on to the field that shocked me. Youngsters had just finished football training and people were trying to leave. "But the caravans came through before they could lock the gate and wouldn't let them past. There were still children there and people walking their dogs. It was dangerous."One of my friends who lives on the other side of the fields says she heard the generator all night.
"There is a lot of concern because no one can go on there to walk their dogs and children can't play there."
