East Riding Council is appealing for help in tracking down flytippers who dumped a mountain of video cassettes in the area.

The waste appeared on the A164 between Willerby and Swanland in the entrance to a field.

The number of video cassettes suggests it was a business getting rid of old stock or was someone disposing of a very large private collection.

Titles included Perfect Strangers, Suicide Kings and Sneakers.

Mike Featherby, the council's head of service for streetscene, said: "It looks as if someone has used a low loader and has reversed into the gateway to tip them. "There are hundreds of them and someone must know where they have come from.

"They have now been cleared away at council tax payers' expense."

Anyone with information should email streetscene.enforcement@eastriding.gov.uk or call 01482 395838.

Information will be treated in the strictest confidence.
