HULL City look set to miss out on long-rumoured transfer target Morgan Amalfitano– as he heads to a Premier League rival.West Ham have agreed a deal to sign the 29-year-old midfielder from Marseille on a free transfer, according to Sky sources.
Amalfitano moved on loan from the Ligue 1 club to West Brom last September, and scored four goals in 30 outings.
First linked with the Tigers over a year ago, the midfielder hasn't been short of admirers since playing in England last season.
French newspaper L'Equipe claimed last month that the attacking midfielder was waiting to meet new Marseille coach Marcelo Bielsa before making a decision on his future.
QPR were rumoured to be interested, but the Frenchman look set to jump ship and head down south to join Sam Allardyce at Upton Park.Redknapp worries over Remy
SPEAKING of the Rangers, City's opponents in Saturday's Premier League opener have some injury worries ahead of the big kick-off.
QPR boss Harry Redknapp is hopeful striker Loic Remy will be fit to start the clash with the Tigers.
The French forward looks set to play a big part in Redknapp's plans after a move to Liverpool earlier in the summer fell through.
Remy sat out Rangers' final pre-season friendly with Greek side PAOK but Redknapp is pleased with his progress and praised the player's attitude since he returned to the club.
"He's here, he wants to work and get in the team," Redknapp told the club's website.
"He's worked really hard on the training ground, I couldn't have asked for any more from him. He's trained great and his attitude' been first class.
"Hopefully with a week's training he'll be fit to play next week."
Redknapp admitted he is a big admirer of the work Steve Bruce has done at the KC Stadium.
"Every game's going to be a test in the Premier League," he added. "Steve Bruce has bought really well and they've got a good squad now.
"We'll get ready for next week now. It's going to be a busy week, we've got a lot to work on."Express tipping City to avoid drop
Every national newspaper is gearing up to the 2014/15 countdown, and the Daily Express has evaluated every team's potential ahead of the new campaign.
Express reporter John Richardson has been impressed with the calibre of signings Steve Bruce has made in the summer, and is tipping the Tigers to steer clear of relegation once again.
"Hull City are still around. There may be a hullabaloo over the name 'Tigers' but there's no questioning the spirit manager Steve Bruce has engendered. The FA Cup finalists have bought well in the summer, with Tom Ince and Robert Snodgrass among the British talent secured," he wrote.
'Ricco' also tipped Arsenal to become champions, but reckons Swansea, West Brom and Burnley are destined for the drop.Keeper Oxley delighted with debut goalMARK Oxley has admitted that he was 'delighted' to score on his debut for Hibernian in their Scottish Championship win over Livingston.
The goalkeeper, who joined the Edinburgh club on loan from the Tigers, found the back of the net when his goal kick bounced over the head of opposite number Darren Jamieson in yesterday's 2-1 victory.
The 23-year-old told Hibs TV: "I'm buzzing, more so the three points. It's the perfect start and sets the benchmark for what we want to do.
"Usually I like to put it on the deck and kick it from there but there was a lad standing near me so he made my mind up really.
"I just looked to hit Farid [El Alagui], there was a bit of indecision between the goalkeeper and defender and when it bounced like it did it put them in trouble. I'm delighted with it."
Oxley spent last season on loan with Oldham Athletic.Tigers new away kit – the reaction
