Snow and freezing temperatures are on their way to Hull and East Yorkshire this weekend. Weather forecasters say the mild weather the region has been enjoying since the New Year is on its way out. Snow and cold winds are due on Saturday night and Sunday, when temperatures will drop as low as -4C. The Met Office has today issued a severe weather warning for the east coast and says up to 10cm of snow could fall in some places, particularly over hills. Icy surfaces will be an additional hazard. Sean Penston, a forecaster with MeteoGroup, said: "In the next few days it will start getting colder. "The minimum temperature could be -4C or -5C in some parts. "There's more of an easterly wind coming in, with the possibility of snow showers by the weekend and the start of next week. "It's difficult to say for certain at the moment, but there will be quite a bit of snow for the east coast." A scattering of rain showers is expected for East Yorkshire tomorrow (Friday) - with sleet falling over higher ground. The Met Office is forecasting the worst of the snow between midnight and mid-morning on Sunday, with a possibility of more to come on Monday and Tuesday.
