Hull KR's play-off hopes were dealt a major blow with their 28-10 defeat at Widnes. In a closely fought first half, there was very little between the two sides. Jack Owens opened the scoring after Hull KR bombed several tries. Kris Keating got his side level with a 23rd minute try before Widnes went in at the break 10-4 up thanks to Chris Dean's converted try. Two tries in the first five minutes of the second half from Joe Mellor and Kevin Brown gave the Vikings a 20-4 lead. Jason Chan's first try for Rovers made it 20-10 with half an hour to play, but Rovers' composure deserted them with passes going into touch and kick going straight to Widnes players. Stefan Marsh's unconverted try took the game away from Rovers. With 13 minutes to play, Rhys Hanbury scored the try of the game to seal a 28-10 win. Rovers chances of making the play-offs are now out of their hands with four matches to play.
