HULL City's acquisition of Andrew Robertson for a fee which could rise to £3m has been well received by his former part-time side, who are now laughing all the way to the bank.
The 20-year-old was effectively playing non-league in Scotland just two seasons ago, running out for Queen's Park in Scottish League Two.
When he left for Dundee United, they refused to pay the Amateurs' asking price of £15,000 and chairman Stephen Thompson instead insisted on a sell-on fee.
Now the move has taken an ironic twist, with Thompson having to hand over considerably more following his rapid rise into a Scotland international and Premier League star to be.
Needless to say, there have been a few smiles at Queen's Park in recent days as Steve Bruce finally landed his man, who is due in East Yorkshire today for a medical and to discuss personal terms.Maguire move is dead in water
When Harry Maguire was left out of Sheffield United's 4-3 friendly win over Dundee on Friday, it sparked wild rumours he was set to join Hull City after all.
However, Blades boss Nigel Clough, who is holding out for £4m for the League One defender, admitted Maguire was omitted because of sunstroke.
Having seen a £2m-plus bid for the former England Under-21 international turned down, the Tigers have now turned their attention elsewhere.
Explaining Maguire's absence, Clough said: "Nothing has changed. We have a reasonable valuation on him and it hasn't been reached.
"The reason he didn't feature against Dundee was because he felt unwell.
"It is hard to believe, but he spent too much time in the sun on Thursday afternoon and it wasn't worth risking him."
City boss Steve Bruce confirmed the chase for him was now off too, citing the high fee which is being demanded by the Blades for a player unproven at even Championship level.Tigers on trail of Jenkinson
As the Mail reported here after yesterday's 1-1 draw with Barnsley, the Tigers are keen to sign Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson on a season-long loan.
The 22-year-old is expected to play second fiddle to new £12m arrival Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle this campaign.
But whilst manager Steve Bruce admitted he is keen, he knows there will be a host of clubs chasing the signature of the one-cap England international, who plays at right-back.
