TEAM owner Bobby McEwan says the door is open if Guillaume Doucet wants to return to Hull Stingrays.
The 27-year-old Canadian proved one of the finds of the Elite League season, after signing last summer from French side Morzine-Avoriaz.
His scoring spree saw him crowned Stingrays' player of the year and nominated as the top-flight's forward of the campaign.
His points tally made him the league's second most deadly sniper behind Coventry's Ryan Ginand.
And he delivered on the ice, despite studying for a Masters in Business at Hull University.
Unfortunately, ignoring the exhortations of last year's house-mates – new Stingrays' coaching duo Omar Pacha and Carl Lauzon – Doucet will ply his trade in Denmark this season.
The Rapid Solicitors Hull Stingrays owner explained: "I've said to Douc 'I'll tell you something, the door is always open because you are stepping up to a league which is quite a bit better than ours in Denmark.
'There's a lot of responsibility on your shoulders. They think they're getting 50 goals a season based on your last year with us.
'If it doesn't work out, don't be scared to pick the phone up.'
"He said 'are you serious?'
"I said 'you're a great kid, great for the club, great for the University and great for the city, you didn't take the ****, you worked hard, did your job and were polite to everyone. Your family and girlfriend are great, I can't thank you enough.'
"He said: 'Bobby I'd have no hesitation in phoning'."
