A HULL man has set up a new website in a bid to help those in need across East Yorkshire.
David Freer has created the site and charity Nice 2 b Nice to raise awareness and donations for people in the city who need help.
Mr Freer, 35, decided to set up the web page after he raised funds to help four-year-old Lewis Norman, of Hull, who had his special needs pushchair stolen from Pearson Park.
Mr Freer, of Kingswood, said: "I saw the article in the Mail about Lewis and could not stand by and do nothing.
"After a lengthy chat with Lewis's mum Nicola, we arranged to set up a fundraising account and have so far raised enough money not only to buy new accessories for Lewis's new pushchair but also to help two other autistic children.
"I now want to continue the good work by setting up what is called Nice 2 b Nice and doing for others what people did for me."
The Nice 2 b Nice appeal will focus on three main areas – raising awareness or promoting any good cause, raising funds through the site and offering a special advice service for those in need.
The father-of-two said: "The money raised doesn't have to be for a particular charity, as long as it's helping someone, I'll promote it, provide leads where possible or get directly involved if I can.
"We started the Lewis campaign from scratch and it was a lot of hard work.
"Hopefully, with Nice 2 b Nice there will be funds already in place for someone that really is in need, saving a lot of time."
Mr Freer is also focusing on setting up a free advice service for those who may need help and not have anyone to turn to.
He said: "Recently, two stories have come to my attention concerning bullying and abuse and I just want people to have somewhere to turn.
"I'll be offering the help service for people needing personal advice on any matter.
"People can email concerns to nice2bnice72@yahoo.com and I'll help them as best I can with any problems they are having.
"Failing that, I'll point them in the right direction for the help they need.
"All contacts made will be confidential so they can be open and honest with whatever problems they are having."
Mr Freer, who runs the Home And Garden Hull business is now appealing for other businesses or individuals to help get Nice 2 b Nice up and running through sponsorship.
Mr Freer said: "In return you'll be associated to the charity for one year and have the branding or logo with all relevant details of your company publicised through any events held."
Despite the campaign being in its early days, Mr Freer has big aspirations. He said: "I don't know where this journey is going to take me, however, I have set myself a target of £100,000."
