PEOPLE are being asked to take part in a Hull pub crawl with a difference.
Beer and wine will be replaced with soft drinks when Hull City Council and NHS Hull partner agency Action For Change host an alcohol-free pub crawl on Friday.
The event is being held to provide information, advice and support on the effects of alcohol.
Advice on safer drinking and where to go for tips on health, sleeping patterns and general wellbeing will also be available.
Councillor John Hewitt, portfolio holder for neighbourhoods and communities at the city council, said: "We want people to have fun when socialising but to know their limits and the impacts of alcohol.
"People can have a great time without drinking and this mini- pub crawl will offer advice and tips to do this."
The pub crawl starts at 11am at Garbo's in Lowgate with free soft drinks available from 11.30am on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Dry January campaign offers people the opportunity to give up alcohol for a month.
Graeme Dixon, of Action For Change, is urging people to go along and get support to reinforce their new year's resolutions.
He said: "The campaign gave us an idea to work with the management team at Garbo's to demonstrate how much fun it is possible to have without having an alcoholic drink.
"There will be advice available on safe and sensible drinking and Humberside Police will be providing guidance on alcohol and the law."
People can sign up to the national campaign by visiting www.dryjanuary.org.uk and get more information about the initiative.
