MORE than 150 people took part in a march through Beverley in what organisers say was Yorkshire's biggest protest against fracking.
Armed with banners, the protesters marched through the town centre on Saturday, before congregating outside East Riding Council's offices at County Hall.
Their aim was to send a clear message to East Riding Council that they do not want fracking in the area.
Pip Hockey, one of the organisers, said: "It was a real success.
"Over 150 people came along to the peaceful march. We spoke to locals and handed out leaflets and gave a few brief speeches at the end.
"There was a really nice vibe and people of all ages and from walks of life came.
"It was the biggest anti-fracking march Yorkshire has seen so far and we hope to build on the momentum."
Fracking is the process of drilling down into the earth before a high-pressure water mixture is directed at the rock to release the gas inside.

There are concerns Rathlin Energy's (UK) wells at Crawberry Hill in Walkington and West Newton, near Aldbrough, could be used for fracking - something the company strongly denies. The campaigners have set up an online petition. Visit http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/east-riding-of-yorkshire-council-oppose-fracking for more information.![]()
