TWO people arrested on suspicion of murdering a newborn baby girl have been released on bail after tests revealed she was stillborn.Police say they will now consult with the Crown Prosecution Service before deciding if any charges will be brought against the man and woman, who were arrested after the baby's body was found on a footpath behind Rockford Avenue, east Hull.
A post mortem carried out on Monday established the baby was stillborn and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.
Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Baldwin said: "This has been a very complex and sensitive investigation making it important for us to fully consider the circumstances which led to the baby being discarded.
"We are working closely with the Crown Prosecution Service in order to establish the most suitable outcome following our investigation and the two people arrested have been bailed at this time whilst we do so."
A member of the public found the baby girl on the path, also used by cyclists, at 7.15pm on Saturday.
