Police are warning people not to fall foul of fraudsters after a man was offered several watches for £10.
A 49-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation after a man was approached at St Andrew's Quay in west Hull.
He was talking to a man in the car park, who the offered him the watches, which he claimed to be worth 100 euros.
He told the man he was desperate for money to get to London. The man turned down the offer and contacted police.
PC Andy Allen, Hull's crime reduction officer, said: "Offers that are too good to be true normally are and therefore I would urge people not to buy goods from strangers."
