MICHAEL Dobson will return to Super League next season after signing a four-year deal with Salford Red Devils.
Dobson, who left Hull KR at the end of last season, is currently playing for Newcastle Knights in the NRL. After starting the season well, he has found himself out of the side in recent weeks and sparked rumours of a return to England.
Hull FC are believed to have expressed an interest in signing Dobson, who spent five and a half years at Rovers.
But Salford won the race to sign the 28-year-old. He will be one of four half-backs at Salford next season with Rangi Chase, Marc Sneyd and Theo Fages.
Dobson is relishing the latest challenge in his career and said: "I'm really excited to be joining a great squad next season."
"I'm looking forward to a new challenge at the Devils."
Dobson is Salford's third confirmed major signing for 2015 following the capture of New Zealand Test full-back Kevin Locke and Leeds winger or full-back Ben Jones-Bishop.
Locke is now due to arrive by the end of the month after Red Devils owner Marwan Koukash secured his early release from the New Zealand Warriors.
Koukash said: "Michael's arrival will give us four fantastic half-backs at our club, easily the strongest in Super League.
"He will join Rangi Chase, Theo Fages and Marc Sneyd to give us options that the rest of the competition will be eyeing enviously."
