Hull KR chairman Neil Hudgell has confirmed he has offered coach Craig Sandercock a new deal to stay at the club. As revealed by the Hull Daily Mail in April, KR had decided to reward Sandercock with a new contract after a solid start to the Super League season. Results since then have not been as consistent, including heavy defeats to Castleford Tigers and Warrington Wolves, but Hudgell is standing by Sandercock although says he expects KR to be "comfortably" in the play-offs. He said: "We need to make plans for our improvement next year and beyond. I'd like to think that we we'll finalise everything in the next couple of weeks. "There's a contract on the table and we're taking our way through that. The fact there's a contract on the table and we're talking through that means we're moving towards a positive conclusion. "We'd like to have matters resolved in the next couple of weeks, as we need to make plans for our recruitment next summer," he told the BBC. Hudgell said Rovers had enjoyed a "wicked" start to the season but he had been disappointed by some recent results which included a 54-12 loss to Castleford and a 4-34 to Warrington in their last two games. He added: "We need to kick start going into that last third of the season and be very comfortably in that top eight." The Mail understands the new deal for Sandercock will be a 12-month extension to his existing contract. Sandercock arrived at the KC Lightstream stadium from Newcastle Knights on a two-year deal ahead of the 2012 campaign and was awarded a one-year extension after steering the club to an eight place finish.
