Santander Corporate and Commercial has launched a £50m loan pot for Humber manufacturing businesses seeking to benefit from Siemens' investment in Hull. It aims to help small and medium companies make the most of opportunities from the German energy giant's commitment to build a £310m offshore wind turbine factory in Alexandra Dock and nearby Paull. Santander lent £20m to regional businesses last year and aims to continue building its business relationships here. The bank's regional director Jonathan Thompson said: "The Humber region has long been home to businesses which are characterised by their innovation and aspiration and we are delighted to support the ongoing investment in the region with £50m of additional funding for local manufacturers. "Manufacturing is a key cornerstone of the local economy and employment and our Humber team are committed to supporting businesses in the region and helping them achieve their ambitions." Santander's business lending has grown steadily in the last four years, increasing annually by 20 per cent. Its first corporate business centre opened in the Humber in 2010 and bosses said the area was an important focus for future development. The bank has also set up a hotline to help businesses looking for growth advice. Firms interested in getting support should call 05511 477407.
