FOLLOWING Matty Fryatt's departure from the Tigers to Nottingham Forest last night, Hull City are said to be facing another transfer target battle this summer after West Brom joined the race to land Spartak Moscow forward Majeed Waris. The Daily Express reckon the Tigers are keen on the forward and that Albion have now submitted their own interest in the striker, but join a long list including newly-promoted Leicester City, Everton and Newcastle.
Waris is said to be keen on a move away from Russia and the 22-year-old was hoping to put himself in the shop window this summer in Brazil as he looks to represent Ghana at the World Cup, but is now a doubt for the country's opener against the USA after picking up a thigh injury just five minutes into their friendly against South Korea in Miami yesterday.
Leicester are evidently keen to add more striker reinforcements to their squad following their promotion, having had a bid accepted for former Tigers forward Fraizer Campbell and numerous offers rejected for Brighton frontman Leonardo Ulloa, who was a potent threat against City during the FA Cup run.
The Tigers may now be dipping into the transfer market for a striker, with Steve Bruce already handing owners Assem and Ehab Allam a list of drawn-up targets.Ayew on the ball for Ghana preparations
REPORTED target Jordan Ayew came off the bench to score a hat-trick for Ghana as they continued their World Cup preparations with a 4-0 victory over South Korea in Miami yesterday.
The Marseille striker replaced the aforementioned Majeed Waris after just five minutes through injury, and broke the deadlock within 10 minutes of his arrival. Asamoah Gyan doubled the Black Stars' advantage a minute before half-time.
Ayew put the result beyond doubt with a third goal eight minutes into the second half, and then sealed his treble a minute from time.
Ghana open their World Cup group G campaign against the United States in Natal on Monday, with South Korea taking on Russia in Cuiaba in Group H on Tuesday.
Linked way back in December, could Ayew be the answer to Matty Fryatt's sudden departure?Sidwell and Colback head elsewhere
TWO deals which have proven to be nothing more than speculation are those concerning Steve Sidwell and Jack Colback, after their futures were tied up at Premier League rivals.
Sidwell joined Stoke on a two-year-deal following his release by Fulham, whilst Colback crossed the Tyne/Wear divide by arriving at Newcastle from bitter rivals Sunderland.Dawson agrees to Scunny stay
AND finally, former Tigers defender Andy Dawson has agreed a new one-year deal to stay on as player-coach at Scunthorpe United.
The 35-year-old is the final player of the contingent of those out of contract and offered new deals to commit his future to the club this summer.
The former Nottingham Forest trainee returned to Glanford Park last summer after 10 years across the Humber with the Tigers.
