A lorry fire on the A63 caused severe delays this afternoon.
As traffic came to a standstill, some motorists left their vehicles because of sweltering afternoon temperatures.
The lorry was stranded on the westbound carriageway, near South Cave, just after the M62 junction. The accident happened at about 2.30pm and was caused by a blow-out.
One lane was closed, causing a "five-mile" tailback according to police, although traffic was moving again by 4pm.
