I'D like to start this week by wishing Sean Gleeson luck in the next phase of his life.
It's never nice to see a fellow professional have to retire at a relatively young age through injury, even more so when the injury was sustained away from the rugby pitch.
That also leads me on to talking about a young lad who's at the other end of his career in Callum Lancaster, who has recently joined our first team.
Callum's obviously still a very young lad but he's come into the squad and he's definitely not looked out of place on the left wing. His second try against London showed a sign of the confidence that he has in himself as he dummied the full-back to score in the corner.
The most impressive part of his performance for me, though, was the acceleration and pace he showed to turn and chase down Broncos' players on a couple of occasions when we had fumbled a ball and they looked to break on us.
There's one thing the kid does have and that's pace in abundance. He can really shift and the more games he gets under his belt the better he'll get as he grows more confident in the first-team environment.
It was obviously an important two points at the weekend and hopefully it gives us a foundation to really kick-start the second half of our season.
We have a weekend off for the Challenge Cup which will give the coaching staff a chance to get some fitness work into some players and allow other players to let some niggles settle down and recover.
Personally, it will be a tough week's training with the boys followed by a possible run-out for Doncaster at the weekend.
I'm sure the dual-registration system will have its critics but if you have a player, like myself, who is out for five to six weeks and needs some match fitness, with there being no reserve competition to play in, the only option the coaching staff and players have is to go and play for the partner club.
I have no problem with it and am willing to go play for Doncaster for one week, two weeks or however long the club want me to be there.
I believe I'm a player that needs to be playing to get my fitness levels up.
Big quiz promises to be a great nightON the testimonial front, we have a great event lined up that ties in with the club's Hull and Proud week and will head to Hull Truck Theatre for a unique quiz show entitled 'They Think It's All A Question Of 8 Out Of 10 Airlie Birds'.
If you like your TV quiz shows then this should be a treat as I'll be joined by team-mates, coaches and former team-mates for a quiz made up of rounds from popular quiz shows, including Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Question of Sport and a host of others.
The quiz is on July 1 and is all part of the Hull and Proud celebrations that week.
It's one I'm looking forward to and hopefully I'll see many of you there.
Tickets are £6 for adults and £4 for under-16s.
They are available in the club shops and from eventbrite.co.uk.
