A DRUG-dealer has been jailed for seven years for his part in a terrifying robbery in which two men were beaten in their home with a baseball bat.

Jur Mabil, 25, was with two other men who arrived at the west Hull home of the two men, armed with a silver baseball bat and a 12in combat knife.

His accomplices have never been identified and remain at large.

One of the victims, a 27-year-old a quantity surveyor, heard a knock at his front door in Keelston Court, Sharp Street, at 4pm on Sunday, February 14, and thinking it was his housemate's girlfriend, shouted that the door was open. When the knocking continued, he got up and unlocked the door, where he was confronted by Mabil, who grabbed him by his hood and forced him to the floor, knocking off his glasses.

The victim, who is short-sighted, could see little else throughout the ordeal, but the two other men stormed in. One hit him above the right eye with the bat, while Mabil shouted: "Where's your stuff?"

The victim was forced onto the sofa in the living room while the intruders continued to shout at him, at which point his housemate, who had been taking a shower, ran in wearing only a towel.

Mabil grabbed him and the 31-year-old student was struck six times with the bat.

He pleaded with them to stop but Mabil told him to shut up and walked him to his bedroom and that of another housemate, but could find nothing to steal.

Mabil, who had a string of previous convictions for drug-dealing and carrying weapons, then pulled out the knife and pressed it against the student's neck until it bled.

He was taken back into the living room and tried to intervene when one of the gang found his Macbook laptop, but Mabil pointed the knife at him and he backed off.

The robbers also stole his housemate's laptop, headphones, and £50 in cash along with the student's iPhone and wallet, containing £30 cash, his bank cards and identification documents.

His university work was on his computer and his housemate, an amateur DJ, lost his entire collection of music.

Both victims, who had never seen the intruders before, later gave statements describing how the incident had affected them.

The quantity surveyor said he feared the men would come back and was now so security-conscious – repeatedly checking the property was locked – that he felt like a "prisoner" in his own home.

The student said it was "one of the worst experiences of his life, a terrifying ordeal", Stephen Welch, prosecuting, told Hull Crown Court.

Although the knife was never found, Mabil's DNA was discovered on the scabbard that had been left at the scene and he was arrested at his home in 31st Avenue, North Hull Estate.

Police found 55 small cannabis plants at his house, which had a potential street value of more than £14,000, as well as 8.13g of the Class B drug mephedrone (M-Cat), 143 tablets of the Class C drug piperazine, and drug-dealing paraphernalia.

Mabil admitted robbery, producing cannabis, and possession of the other drugs with intent to supply and was jailed for seven years.
