IAFETA Paleaaesina says it's crucial Hull FC draw a line through the first half of the season and head into the second half of the campaign with renewed confidence.
A disappointing return of just five wins from their first 14 games left Hull 10th in the Super League table and adrift of the play-off places.
But having started the second half of the campaign by completing a double over London Broncos, Paleaaesina believes it's important Hull make the most of a fresh start in order to climb the league ladder.
"We've spoken as a group about drawing a line in the sand and starting fresh," Paleaaesina told the Mail.
"It's the start of the second half of the season and we've made a good start with a win. Now we can make the most of a week off and prepare for a tough battle ahead.
"You cannot look too far ahead and our focus will be on Widnes next up and building on our win at London."
With the Challenge Cup taking focus this weekend, Hull have two weeks to prepare for their next match away at a Widnes side who host Keighley Cougars in the cup quarter-finals on Thursday night.
While coach Lee Radford will utilise the time to hand some of his players a rest and an opportunity to overcome niggling injuries, Paleaaesina says the importance of the next two weeks of training cannot be underestimated.
"We have a very important two weeks coming up. We will train really hard and it is going to be a tough next game against Widnes so we have to be as well prepared as possible," added the Kiwi.
"Credit to Dennis Betts and the crew they have got there because they are going really well and we know it's going to be a tough game.
"We've two weeks to get ready for what's going to be a really important game for us."
While victory at London helped alleviate some of the pressure on Hull, the Black and Whites still have some way to go to turn their season around.
A first back-to-backs win of the season at Widnes is equally as crucial as ending their four-match losing streak in the capital was.
Three points off the top eight, Hull need to now mount a sustained challenge.
"We played a bit dumb at times at London, but we needed the win, especially for our die hard fans who came and travelled because it's not an easy trip to make," added Paleaaesina.
"It was important to get that winning feeling again. We knew it was going to be a dog fight going down to London, but we needed the win any way it came.
"The scoreline didn't reflect how tough the game actually was and credit to London for the way they played because it was hard for them getting one of their best players sent off.
"But we got the win and now what's important is we build on it."
