Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott are to perform at The Spa, Bridlington. The duo, who found fame together in The Beautiful South, will play the venue on Saturday, December 6, as part of a national tour. Andrew Aldis, general manager at The Spa, Bridlington, said: "It is yet another great gig for The Spa. The venue welcomed Paul and Jacqui in the years before the refurbishment so it'll be great to hear their impressions of the venue now." Heaton, who lived in Hull for 20 years, initially found fame as a member of The Housemartins. Mr Aldis said: "As a December concert this is a great boost to the economy of the town, especially for our local accommodation providers." The announcement comes just days after the pair performed together in-front of a sell-out crowd at Hull City Hall – their first concert together in the city for 16 years. After the gig, Abbott Tweeted: "What an absolute welcome home from an amazing crowd in Hull." The pair recently recorded together for the first time since their Beautiful South days. Speaking about their reunion, Heaton told the Mail: "I heard a rumour that Jacqui was on Facebook under a different name so I sent her a message saying 'hi, how are you, miss you, fancy doing an album?' "And that was that. I was surprised to hear her sing again and it was like time hadn't moved on at all. She's still got it. "It was like finding something in the attic, dusting it down and finding out it worked just as well as it did before. Like an old Scalextric set that you really loved. "Actually, I've got to stop describing her as old things I've found in the attic, not sure what she will think of that." The album, What Have We Become, entered the chart at number three last month. Abbott said: "It's just great to be singing again after such a long time, especially with Paul. We had such a good run together previously and it's just a real pleasure to be working with him again and singing these fantastic songs." The Spa will be selling 1,000 of the 3,800 tickets at its box office, with the remainder on sale via various ticket agencies. Tickets, which cost £22.50, plus a £2.50 booking fee, will go on sale from 9.30am on Friday (June 6).• Visit TheSpaBridlington.com for details.
