Hull City fans have spoken of their pride after watching their side's battling defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup final. The Tigers raced into an early lead but eventually lost 3-2 after extra time. Ed Sleeman, 30, from Driffield, said of the game: "It was amazing. I am gutted but am amazed we took them to extra time." On the season as a whole, he said: "Staying up was enough for us. It's been an incredible end to a brilliant season." Brothers John and Shane Forth watched the game side by side at Wembley. "I have watched Hull City since the 1950s and this was the best performance I have seen," said John, 66, of North Yorkshire. "It's disappointing to lose but every Hull player gave it their all. "We cannot expect to beat a team like Arsenal with the resources they have." Shane, 58, from Teeside, said: "The players were great tonight. This performance will have gained us new supporters all over the world." Rob Lewis, 44, from Kirk Ella, said: "We are obviously really disappointed. It feels harsh. "I don't think many thought we win." Chris Shelton, 25, said: "We are devastated. We sat back too long, but what brilliant support." Former University of Hull student James Mills, 27, who now lives in Kent, said: "The fans have been great. We can be proud. Dave Chisem, 49, from Sutton, said: "I totally enjoyed myself today. It's disappointing we couldn't hold out but we participated in that game. I'm proud to be a City fan today." Rich Wood, 36, from Beverley said: "If you're going to lose, lose in style. It's gutting to lose in extra time, but it's been an amazing occasion. It's up there with the kids being born."fansfulltimeGAVE EVERYTHING: Fans at full-time.
Graham Empson, 55, travelled from Guildford with his son Rich, 25. "I am proud of the performance," said Graham. "When we went 2-0 up I thought we were going to win." "I am gutted. It was a fantastic game and it was unbelievable to get to the FA Cup final. "The Hull crowd was amazing throughout the whole game." John Marson, 46, of Howden, had predicted City would win 3-1. He said: "I was proud of the first half but gutted with the second half. "Arsenal are a good side and we sat back too much. But the players gave it their all and there is not much more they could do. "I feel emotionally drained now. But it wouldn't surprise me if they got to another final soon."
