For one Hull City fan reaching the FA Cup final was a personal goal. Father-of-two Peter East, 55, a season pass-holder, suffered a massive stroke in September, leaving him unable to walk and talk.

Mr East, of east Hull, said: "I have been very ill and have had to learn to talk and walk again. It is very emotional being here today. I have been crying. It means a lot." His paramedic brother, Des East, 48, from west Hull, said: "Thanks to the staff at Rossmore Stroke Unit, in Sunny Bank, we're here today. I told Peter that I'd get him here and here we are. "I was never going to let him down. This day means so much to us. It was Peter's goal to get here. I can't quite believe City are playing at Wembley though. It's fantastic." Fellow fans, father and son David and Joe Smith, said City supporters are in heaven. David, 43, said: "I have been following City for 32 years and I never thought we'd be here for a FA Cup final. It's brilliant. "The atmosphere is lively. City fans are making themselves heard." His 17-year-old son Joe said: "We were here for the semi-final too. No one expects us to win, but we're going to make the most of being here. "Coming down here last night someone shouted at us, 'Beat the scum!' I think they must have been Tottenham fans."
